hellofromSG. Review: The Regent High Tea Buffet

20150201_142458

I’ve been wanting to review Basilico for the longest time but I feel that my photos are quite inadequate. I hate taking photos of buffets as I feel like I’m getting in the way of others. Also, many places use heating lamps so my photos don’t turn out well since the whole photo comes out glowing yellow/orange. However, after visiting The Tea Lounge for their high tea buffet, I felt that I really should review The Regent since it houses two incredible buffets – the Italian Buffet at Basilico and the High Tea buffet at Tea Lounge.

hellofromSG. Review: Cicheti

First things first, for all of you like myself, who pronounce words in their head when they read them, it’s pronounced “Chi-Keh-Tee” according to their website. Apparently, this method of reading slows you down so no wonder I read at a glacial pace haha.

My favourite cuisine is definitely Italian. I’m quite picky about pizza which is unfortunate since my dad absolutely adores Pizza Hut and their pan pizzas (kill me). I think it’s just the nostalgia since it was a real treat when they were younger.

hellofromSG. Review: PS. Café – Best truffle fries in Singapore

20140222_155739

As my very first post on Singapore I’ve chosen to feature one of my favourite places – PS. Café! Well technically it’s many places since they have so many outlets and I’ve been to the ones in Dempsey, Ann Siang Rd, Paragon and Palais. They’ve also opened PS. Café Petit but I will only be reviewing PS. Café since I haven’t had the chance to check out Petit (it looks really good too)!

hellofromHCMC. Review: L’Usine

lusine5

L’usine, one of the more well-known cafes in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), is like the Chye Seng Huat Hardware of Singapore. For those who haven’t heard of Chye Seng Huat, let’s just say, it’s one of those cafes that appear in most if not all of those “Top Cafes in Singapore” lists. As a former employee of the Papa Palheta group, I shan’t comment any further but the point is the name “L’usine” kept popping up when I was searching for where to eat in HCMC. Furthermore, it was recommended by my friend Hai so it was definitely on my list of places to visit.

Recipe: Chicken Soup with Noodles

Currently, I’m living alone at Somerset Ampang KL and there aren’t many food options nearby, plus I’m not a fan of going out alone at night. There also isn’t all that much to do at night (I’ve only got 20 channels, half of which are blur or in Malay -_- ). Thankfully, I love to cook and it’s a great way to pass time as I found out during exchange haha. I mean there’s:

  1. planning
  2. grocery shopping
  3. prepping ingredients
  4. cooking
  5. eating
  6. cleaning up
  7. repeat

hellofromHCMC. Ho Chi Minh City: Eden Saigon Hotel

Recently, I went to Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), aka Saigon, with Ronald for a short getaway from the 2nd to 5th of August. For accommodation, our priorities were:

  1. a great location (we searched in the vicinity of Ben Thanh market – yeah touristy I know but we had no idea where to start)
  2. comfort
  3. a reasonable price

Due to point 2, we restricted our choices to hotels instead of looking at hostels as well. Fortunately, accommodation in HCMC is pretty cheap so we managed to find a number of hotels in the SGD70-SGD90 a night range. Eventually, we decided on Eden Saigon Hotel where we stayed for the entirety of our trip.

hellofromHCMC. Ho Chi Minh City: Planning your trip

Actually, I’m posting this from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia as I’ve been posted here for work for the next half a year but that’s a story for another day 😀

Recently, I went to Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), aka Saigon, with Ronald for a short getaway (2-5 Aug)! While searching for what to do, there were very limited options in English (I tried to avoid the typical touristy options although in the end it wasn’t really possible to completely ignore the tourist sites with such limited information available) so this really motivated me to blog about this trip and share my experience! Personally, I’m not the most cultured traveler so I’m not a big fan of places like museums and experiences which involve hardship like the Cu Chi tunnels :p so if you’re looking for those kinds of recommendations, don’t worry, there’s tons on the internet! 20140802_061956
